In most cases a single tier cake can be safely transport by placing it on a flat
surface in your vehicle. The cake will be boxed in a box that is, where
available, the same size as the base board of the cake to prevent the cake from shifting
within the box and damaging the sides of the cake.
Where a cake is not able to
be boxed (due to size or design), it can be place either on a piece of foam or
non slip mat on a flat surface (usually the boot of the vehicle) to stop it from
sliding about in the vehicle.
Multi tiered cakes are usually not boxed and are transported either as one
piece, where the tiers are stacked on top of one another. Or as separate pieces,
where tiers are separated by pillars and assembled at the venue.
Cakes with cake toppers or fragile ornaments should not be transported with
the ornaments on top of the cake. Ornaments should be safely packaged in a
separate box and attached to the cake when it is set up at the venue.
